Our Story
Briana and Dan Flanagan started the BEI program in 2019 to provide students and their families with the support they need. The program was inspired by a growing need for more tools to support students’ emotional and mental wellbeing and a personal connection to this ongoing challenge.
Like many others, mental health was a huge part of the Flanagans’ lives. Briana, Dan, their father, and other members of their family struggled with mental wellness, and the BEI program is their way to give students and their families a blueprint for positive brain health and help them beat the stigma associated with mental health.
Our Mission, Our Passion
Our organization believes the role of empathy and social connectedness skills are developed through nourishing and enhancing brain health. Our goal is to use the combined power of education and mentorship to help students learn valuable skills that they can use in school and at home.
We work to remove behavioral, social, and emotional barriers to students’ success along with developing the skills of empathy, thoughtful listening, and genuine care for the other. We provide a stable environment for a positive educational experience that facilitates enriched behavioral norms through mentorship.
We believe in collaborating with professional educators in a focused, evidence-based mentoring program. In addition, BEI works within the school district's community, utilizing community partnerships to bring the most authentic experience to every participating student.
